Caption: Sulamith Goldhaber (1923-1965, nee Low), US particle physicist. Goldhaber specialised in the interactions of K+ mesons with nucleons. Born in Austria, she met her future husband, particle physicist Gerson Goldhaber, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. They married in 1947, moved to the USA and began careers working on particle accelerators. They worked on the Bevatron, using bubble chambers to detect particles. Sulamith Goldhaber was a gifted speaker and in 1965 began a sabbatical tour with her husband giving talks at high-energy physics institutes worldwide. She died in Madras, India, after a stroke, with surgery revealing a brain tumour.
