Caption: Bice Sechi-Zorn (1928-1984), Italian-US nuclear physicist. Sechi-Zorn made key contributions to the study of subatomic particles called hyperons, and their strong and weak interactions. She was educated in Italy, obtaining her doctorate from the University of Cagliari. While working at the University of Padua, she met her future husband, fellow particle physicist Gus T. Zorn (1924-2002). They moved to the USA and both worked at the University of Maryland. She was made Professor of Physics there after anti-nepotism rules were relaxed in 1975. A memorial fund and professorship established at the university honour their memory.
