Caption: Night sky over Grand Canyon watchtower. Night sky above the Grand Canyon and the Desert View Watchtower. The brightest object (centre right) is the planet Jupiter. Above Jupiter, at top right, is the Pleiades star cluster. The bright star Capella is above and slightly left of the tower. This 21-metre-tall stone tower is on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, in Arizona, USA. Designed by US architect Mary Colter, and completed in 1932, it provides views over the Grand Canyon and houses tourist exhibits. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, and became part of the surrounding historic district in 1995.
