From south to north, they are: Mount Etna (on Sicily), three volcanic islands north of Sicily (Vulcano, Salina, and Stromboli), a chain of three underwater volcanoes (from west to east: Vavilov, Marsili, and Palinuro near the Italian coast), and three volcanoes in or near the Bay of Naples (Ischia, Mount Vesuvius, and the Phlegraean Fields).
