Caption: Exploration in Ecuador. 19th-century artwork of hunters shooting birds and other animals on an expedition to collect specimens in the Ecuadorean jungle. They are in the Esmeraldas region of north-western Ecuador, near the Pacific coast. This artwork, by Edouard Riou, is from 'Nach Equador' (1881) by Jesuit priest and scientist Joseph Kohlberg (1832-1893).
