Caption: Dinosaur fossil site. Labourers carrying out excavations at a dinosaur fossil site in Tanzania (then Tanganyika Territory) in 1924. They are excavating in the Tendaguru Beds, a fossil-rich formation in south-eastern Tanzania. The area had been under the control of Germany as part of German East Africa. After World War I, a team of scientists from the British Museum of Natural History travelled to the region to locate and collect dinosaur fossils. The fossils date from the Late Jurassic (160 million to 145 million years ago).
