Caption: Iberian blacksmith. Artwork of a blacksmith repairing an iron tool in his smithy during the Iberian period. At right, an assistant is operating a set of bellows. The smelting and use of iron was an important innovation. The Iberians were a grouping of pre-Roman Iron Age peoples living in the eastern and southern regions of the Iberian peninsula. It is thought that they arrived in the area in the Neolithic period, from around 5000 BC.
