Caption: Human skull separated into its individual bones. At top left and top right are the parietal bones, which when joined form the sides and top of the cranium. Between them is the occipital bone, which forms the base of the cranium, it has an opening to allow the spinal cord to pass through. Below this is the frontal bone of the cranium, with the larger temporal bones and smaller zygomatic bones either side of it. Below this is the sphenoid bone and then the facial bones. The maxilla (upper jaw bone) is split in two. The mandible (lower jaw bone) is at bottom.
