Caption: PICC intravenous device. PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line inserted in a patient's arm. This is a long flexible tube that is inserted all the way along the vein up the arm and into the chest. It is used to deliver intravenous drugs outside of a hospital setting. The drip line for the drugs is attached at left. A PICC line can be left in for weeks or months, removing the need for frequent needle insertions, which can damage veins.
