Caption: Ivan Huc (born 1969), French biochemist. Huc's research interests include biomimetic supramolecular chemistry. He works at the University of Bordeaux at the CBMN group (Chemie et Biologie des Membranes et des Nano-objets). His research group has developed a nanomolecular piston (left) consisting of an axis about which a movable part slides. This design could be used to manufacture artificial muscles. Huc is a CNRS research director and also works at the European Institute for Chemistry and Biology (IECB) in Bordeaux. Photographed in 2011.
