Caption: Anatomical orientation planes. Computer artwork of a human body, showing the three different orientation planes used as a reference in anatomy. These are: the sagittal plane (red), which divides the body into left and right (sinister and dexter) portions; the coronal (or frontal) plane (blue), which divides the body into back and front (dorsal and ventral, or posterior and anterior) portions; and the axial (or transverse) plane (green), which divides the body into head and tail (cranial and caudal) portions. Arrows show the standard direction of view for artworks, scans and imaging methods using these orientations. For the separate planes, see C020/0062 to 0064.
