Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) is a radio telescope located at an altitude of 5100 metres above sea level, at the Chajnantor Observatory in Chile's Atacama desert. The dish has a diameter of 12 metres. In the night sky is the region of the Milky Way in the constellation of Sagittarius. The planet Venus is above the horizon at bottom right. Photographed in November 2011.
