Caption: Henry Taube (1915-2005), Canadian-US chemist. Taube completed his doctoral studies in 1940 at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. His career was spent at Cornell University, the University of Chicago, and Stanford University. He worked on isotope studies and inorganic coordination chemistry, publishing a key paper on the latter in 1952. He was awarded the 1983 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on the mechanisms of electron transfer reactions, especially in metal complexes. He was awarded the National Medal of Science (1976) and the Priestley Medal (1985), and was made Foreign Member of the Royal Society (1988).
