The spadix is typically a type of spike inflorescence which is surrounded by a leaf-like bract known as a spathe. This plant is of the family Araceae. So the "flower" of the Anthurium sp. is a spadix with a large colourful spathe around it. Magnification x9340 (x2300 at 10cm wide).
