Caption: Large cabbage white butterfly (Pieris brassicae). This is a female, distinguishable by two black spots on the upper side of the forewing. Their larvae feed on cabbage plants and have been known to decimate crops. It is one of the most widespread species of butterfly and can be seen throughout the United Kingdom.
