Caption: Mark E. Bailey, British astronomer. Bailey has been Director of the Armagh Observatory, Northern Ireland, since 1995. He has worked on the origin of comets, the dynamics of the Oort cloud, and the capture of comets into short-period orbits. Minor Planet (4050) Mebailey was named for him in 1990. His publications include co-authorship of 'The Origin of Comets' (1990). For his services to astronomy, he was made MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 2007. Photographed in 2008.
