Caption: Sandra Catherine Chapman (born 1961), British astrophysicist. Chapman is Professor of Physics and Director of the Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics at the University of Warwick, Coventry, UK. She has pioneered the development of nonlinear and complex systems approaches to solar system and laboratory plasmas. This work involves large-scale numerical simulation (High Performance Computing). She is also an artist, holding a NESTA Dreamtime fellowship and working as an artist with the British Antarctic Survey in Antarctica. Photographed in 2008.
