Caption: Yvonne Elsworth, British astrophysicist. Elsworth specialises in solar and stellar physics. She is Professor of Helioseismology and Poynting Professor of Physics at the University of Birmingham. In the background is the dome of a training site for BiSON, the Birmingham Solar Oscillations Network. This network consists of six globally distributed remote sites where the Sun is observed near continuously to record oscillations that allow analysis of the deep solar interior. For her helioseismology work, Elsworth was awarded the Payne-Gaposchkin Medal in 2011. Photographed in 2008 at the School of Physics and Astronomy, at the University of Birmingham, UK.
