Caption: High-speed footage of a greenbottle fly (Lucilia sericata) standing on a closed Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) trap. The Venus flytrap is a carnivorous plant, which attracts flies to modified leaves that snap shut if a fly touches them. The plant evolved in wet, nutrient-poor soils, and extracts nutrients from its prey to enable it to survive.
