Caption: Isometric perspectives. 19th-century diagrams showing the principles behind the projection technique to produce an isometric perspective. This perspective rotates a 3D object and projects it onto a 2D representation so that all three co-ordinate axes are foreshortened and equally separated by 120 degrees. This is best seen as looking into the corner of a cube (top left). This page is from the 4th edition (1862, first published 1825) of 'Mathematics For Practical Men' by Gregory, Young and Law.
