Caption: Landfill biogas industry. Bioreactor building at a landfill site constructed by the biogas industry. This site is operated by Trifyl, the company providing the household waste disposal and management service for the French region of Tarn. The waste deposited in the landfill site decomposes under controlled conditions and the biogas (methane and carbon dioxide) produced is used to fuel bioreactors such as this one. The biogas is either burned to produce electricity, or used directly as a fuel. Photographed in 2012, in Graulhet, France.
