Caption: Australopithecine Lucy. Reconstruction of the Lucy specimen of Australopithecus afarensis. Lucy was found in the Afar region of Ethiopia between 1973 and 1977. She dates from 3.3 million years ago, and is one of the earliest links in the human fossil record. This reconstruction is based on the post-cranium of Lucy (AL 288-1) and the cast of the skull AL 417. Reconstruction by Elisabeth Daynes of the Daynes Studio, Paris, France.
