Caption: Early human, Stone Age culture. This reconstruction is based on prehistoric remains excavated at Saint-Germain-de-la-Riviere, Aquitaine, south-western France. This site contains remains of people from the Magdalenian culture, the period between 17,000 and 12,000 BC (Upper Paleolithic) in Western Europe. Magdalenians hunted mammals with spears and also set traps and snares. They are particularly known for their decorative carving of bone, antler and ivory. Reconstruction by Elisabeth Daynes of the Daynes Studio, Paris, France.
