Caption: Anthropological models based on fossils from the human evolutionary tree. In the foreground at right is a reconstruction based on prehistoric remains known as Mandal Man, excavated at Mandal-ri, Sungho District, Pyongyang, North Korea. The remains date from around 40,000 to 8000 years ago, and are sometimes classified as late palaeolithic, sometimes as neolithic. In the background are examples of other species from the human evolutionary tree. Reconstruction by Elisabeth Daynes of the Daynes Studio, Paris, France.
