Caption: Hairy cell leukaemia. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a section through a B-lymphocyte white blood cell in a case of hairy cell leukemia. The cell shows characteristic hair-like cytoplasmic projections and a lobed nucleus (green). Leukemia is a type of cancer in which the blood-producing tissue in bone marrow produces immature white blood cells without restraint, impairing the function of normal blood cells. Hairy cell leukemia is a rare form of leukemia that mostly affects men.
