Caption: Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), 18th-century artwork. This turtle is found in tropical and subtropical seas worldwide. This pencil sketch was drawn by British artist Sydney Parkinson (c.1745-1771) on Captain James Cook's first voyage to the Pacific (1768-1771) in HMS Endeavour. This artwork is part of the collections held at the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
