Caption: Einstein field equation. This equation was formulated by Albert Einstein in his General Theory of Relativity paper in 1915. The theory describes how massive objects cause a distortion in space-time, which is felt as gravity. The left side of the equation contains all the information about how space is curved, and the right side contains all the information about the location and motion of the matter. G is Newton's gravitational constant, lambda is the cosmological constant, guv is the metric tensor, Tuv is the stress-energy tensor, c is the speed of light in a vacuum.
