Caption: Juvenile colloid milium, light micrograph of a skin section. In this rare condition, translucent papules develop on sun-exposed areas of skin, with onset in childhood. Histologically the papules consist of amyloid-like material (pink) derived from epidermal keratinocytes. A possible genetic abnormality leading to sun-induced degeneration of keratinocytes may be responsible for the disease. Magnification: x 100 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue.
