Caption: Skin cancer, light micrograph of a section of affected skin. Leiomyosarcoma is a malignant (cancer) smooth muscle tumor. Leiomyosarcoma is a relatively rare form of cancer, and accounts for between 5–10% of soft tissue sarcomas, which are in themselves relatively rare. The image shows the usual histologic features of leiomyosarcoma – interlacing fascicles of spindle cells (yellow cells at bottom). Magnification: x 150 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue.
