As of 2014, Apollo 17 is the last manned lunar mission to have ever taken place. This mission, the last Apollo mission, landed in the Taurus-Littrow region of the Moon. Cernan and Schmitt explored the area for three days (11-14 December 1972). Cernan was the last person to walk on the Moon.
