Caption: Nerve growth factor. Molecular model of human nerve growth factor bound to the TrkA receptor. NGF is a neurotrophin that acts on the development and function of nerves. TrkA is also known as neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor type 1. The interaction of both these molecules plays a key role in differentiation of nerve cells. Here, the extracellular segment of TrkA is shown (blue and orange), binding either side of the neurotrophin (NGF, pink and green).
