Caption: Plastic corrosion cast of the blood vessels of the human hand superimposed on a computed tomography (CT) scan. The entire vascular space of the hand has been filled with a plastic polymer which rapidly hardens. The tissue is then corroded away by immersion in a strongly alkaline solution. The organic material dissolves away, leaving a plastic cast of every artery, vein and capillary.
