Caption: Louis Favre (1826-1879), Swiss engineer. Favre designed and supervised the building of the Gotthard Rail Tunnel in Switzerland. This construction took place between 1871 and 1881, with Favre dying of a heart attack in the tunnel while inspecting the work done.
