Caption: Red or lesser panda (Ailurus fulgens), native from the Himalayas to southern China. The image shows visitors to the Chengdu Giant Panda research base following a red panda along one of the footpaths. This red panda large enclosure has a number of fenced smaller enclosures within it, which prevent the visitors from disturbing the pandas. The pandas are however able to move between the enclosures due to small openings in the fences which have been constructed by the zookeepers.
