Caption: Skin cancer. Light micrograph (LM) of a section of skin from a patient with lentigo maligna. Lentigo maligna is a specific type of melanoma in situ that occurs around hair follicles on the sun-damaged skin of the head and neck. Currently refered to as lentigo maligna when it is confined to the epidermis and lentigo maligna melanoma when it violates the dermis. If a skin lesion is clinically suspicious of lentigo maligna, it is best excised with a 2-3 mm margin. Magnification: x 150 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue.
