Caption: German submarine U-10 sailing at full speed. U-10 was launched in January 1911. During World War I (1914-1918) it sunk seven Allied ships. German U-boats were used to attack merchant shipping in an attempt to starve the Allies into surrender. U-10 sank in the Gulf of Finland on 30th June 1916, probably after hitting a mine.
