Caption: Spider on its web. This web is used by a spider to catch its prey, such as flies and other insects. The web is spun by the spider using spinnerets at the rear of its abdomen. Spider's silk is made of a protein polymer called fibroin. The silk is very elastic and has great tensile strength. It is also used by the spider to wrap up its prey once caught.
