Caption: Directors of De Beers, 1890. De Beers is a cartel of companies which dominate the diamond industry. The original company was founded in 1888 by Cecil Rhodes, a British businessman. It was financed by South African diamond magnate Alfred Beit, and the London-based Rothschild bank.
