Caption: Propelodytes is an extinct genus of prehistoric Anuran amphibian, family Pelodytidae. The Anura, also called Salientia, is an order of amphibians that includes frogs and toads. This fossil of Propelodytes wagneri, is from the Messel Pit located near Darmstadt, Germany a site well known for its wealth of fossil fauna and flora in the Eocene epoch (dating back some 50 million years).
