Caption: Common clothes moth. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the common clothes moth (Tineola bisselliella). This adult moth has compound eyes (red) and its wings are fringed and covered in scales. Larvae of the common clothes moth cause damage by feeding on fabrics such as wool, leather, fur and textiles. The larvae pupate inside tunnels woven from silk. The adult moth is flightless and does not feed once it has emerged. Magnification: x25 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
