Bovine ephemeral fever virus, coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM). This virus is a member of the Rhabdoviridae family of viruses, and the genus Ephemerovirus. It is a disease of cattle, spread by arthropods. Symptoms include fever, stiffness, lameness and discharges from the nose and eyes. The virions (virus particles) of this virus consist of a core of RNA (ribonucleic acid).
