Caption: Zodiacal constellations. 16th-century chart of the constellations of the zodiac and their positions in the sky during the year (month names down right). The zodiacal signs are (from top): Cancer, Gemini, Leo, Taurus, Virgo, Aries, Libra, Pisces, Scorpio, Aquarius, Sagittarius, and Capricorn. The Latin text at lower right refers to Leonardus Terwoort of Antwerp who drew this table in 1591 based on observations from London by Leonard Digges (1515-c.1559). The author's dedication is to Baron John Lumley (c.1533-1609) with his coat of arms. Artwork from 'The making and use of the geometricall instrument, called a sector' (1598) by Thomas Hood.
