Caption: Cancer research on mouse lungs. In this experiment, mice were injected with mouse sarcoma (cancer) cells. 3 days later, many tiny tumours were detected developing in the lungs of the mice. The lungs on the left are from mice which were then treated with saline solution. The lungs on the right are from mice which were treated with lymphokine activated killer (LAK) cells plus recombinant interleukin-2. Many tumours (white) can be seen in the lungs of the saline-treated mice. This number is significantly reduced in mice receiving LAK cells plus recombinant interleukin-2.
