Caption: Plosky Tolbachik volcano erupting. Ash and volcanic gases rising from a crater on the Plosky Tolbachik volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula, in Russia's Far East. This volcano reaches an elevation of 3085 metres. It has erupted many times in history, with a large eruption in 1975. The most recent activity started on 27 November 2012, from fissures on the volcano's southern flanks. Photographed on 22 January 2013.
