Caption: When a copper (II) sulfate solution is added to a test tube containing an iron nail, a single-displacement reaction occurs. Copper metal and iron (II) sulfate form as a result (Fe + CuSO4 -> Cu + FeSO4). In this sequence frames were taken (left to right): seconds after the copper sulfate was added, after about 2.5 min, after about an hour, and after about 9.5 hours.
