Displacement reaction, image 4 in a series of 4. When a copper (II) sulfate solution is added to a test tube containing an iron nail, a single-displacement reaction occurs. Copper metal and iron (II) sulfate form as a result (Fe + CuSO4 -> Cu + FeSO4). In this sequence, image 1 was taken seconds after the copper sulfate was added, image 2 was taken after about 2.5 min, image 3 was taken after about an hour, and image 4 was taken after about 9.5 hours. This is image 4 of 4.
