Caption: A small rectangular aperture (190x110 micron) is placed in a beam produced by a green Helium-Neon laser operating at 543.4 nm. The resulting Fraunhofer diffraction patterns are observed at about 23 cm away. The central diffraction lobe is oversaturated so that the outer fringes are more prominent. Note that the fringe spacing is smaller with a green laser.
