Caption: A narrow slit is placed in the path of a Helium-Neon laser beam (wavelength of 543.4 nm) and the resulting Fraunhofer diffraction pattern is observed some distance away. Note that the central lobe is over saturated, allowing to see the outer structure more prominently. This is a classic demonstration of the wave nature of the light.
