Caption: Satellite image of Arcachon Bay, France. At lower centre is the Dune of Pyla (yellow rectangle). This is the tallest sand dune in Europe. It measures 2.7 kilometres in length, is 500 metres wide and 110 metres tall. Wind and tides are push the dune several metres inland each year. Image obtained by Japan's ALOS satellite on 8th September 2009.
