Caption: Colour enhanced micrograph of a karyotype for a human male with Down's Syndrome. In this particular case there is a translocation of chromosomes 15 and 21. The other way down's syndrome is characterized is by an extra copy of genetic material on the 21st chromosome. Karyotypes are an arrangement of chromosomes based on their appearance under a light microscope.
